Helen’s commitment to facilitating potential in individuals who are facing challenges, has seen her natural progression from social work to English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching.
Helen has worked in government and private organisations where her primary focus has been clarity in pronunciation for the speaker and comprehension for the listener, leading to meaningful and effective communication.
Helen has designed a ten week module tailored specifically to the learner’s needs. It focuses on pronunciation blocks, voice tone, word stress, communication style, grammar points and relevant business vocabulary (plus Aussie slang!). She uses audio and video experiential sessions with feedback to highlight these learning areas including extensive telephone role plays, social conversation, meeting discussions and presentation practice.
Writing skills are another key area addressed by Helen, encompassing grammar points, appropriate language style in emails, letters, discussion papers and reports.
